The Flydjs crew welcomes DJ BREE! Longtime friend and super Fly lady from Edmonton has been rocking Bassline/Garage for years and is a resident DJ at "The Y" aka Y Afterhours. As one half of "Garage Girls" with Amanda Rude, Bree shares the Basslines love with fans all over BC and Alberta and even the UK. We're thrilled to have her on board so let's welcome her! Congratulations to Kenzie! She is our latest BASiX graduate! We spent a couple of sessions learning the essentials of vinyl DJing and she's a natural. She's stoked on her new skill and is looking to buy DJ gear and get started at home. Thanks for the Kinders..... xoxo ;)

DJ Basix lessons for ladies is back this fall! We are into our fourth year of hosting lessons for curious ladies wishing to learn about vinyl DJing. To date, some 65+ ladies and gents have taken part in our DJ Basix classes, which is offered free of charge or for barter or exchange.

Our community grows with kindness and generosity. In exchange for vinyl DJ lessons, the fly gals have shared skills & crafts including poi / fire poi spinning lessons, spinnach dip, baskets of wine & cheese, hand-made jewelry, clothing, massage, hair styling, art space usage, hoola hoops, dinner, wakeboard lessons, the ability to host our own stage at summer festivals, performance opportunities, and more. Most importantly, we meet new and exciting people who share a common passion for music, friendship, and dancing.

This fall, Basix has expanded. As per usual, JGirl is hosting lessons for gals in her home in Kelowna. Also, Lola is hosting a special session for her Cream Hair Salon gals in Kelowna, and Lyssa has received some interest from gals in the Victoria area wanting to learn and has Basix in the works. Also, our good friend Tyler continues to offer our Basix graduates a lesson in Scratching / Turntablism using top-of-the-line equipment & "battle" music samples.

NIGHTMATE AT THE CASTLE 2 Oct31-08

The Castle Crew have been in touch with JGirl about hosting a wild & crazy Halloween party on Friday October 31, 2008. Last year's Halloween Castle party was one of the most memorable of 2007. Since then, the Castle Crew have put a lot of work into renovations and they're ready to open their doors!

They've checked with local gobblins, out-of-town ghouls, ghosts, and local DJs, and everything is set. NATC2 is ready to go! Flydjs & Crew are excited to transform the Castle into a dungeon of freakish mayhem and we dare you to party with us!

The main room has Shambhala & Solaris favorite DJ BRYX from Nelson and our friend EYEDAWG from Grand Forks alongside JGIRL & MANOUSOS, TROUBLE, & MISHADOW vs LUKE OUT. We've got Fineline Prods on board hosting the lair downstairs with DJs NEO 1 & KRAVEN RAVEN from Victoria, HAPPY MIKE & MODE. Sound by Deleterious, lighthing & production by One Love & Herbal Bass, security by Randy's team. Prizes for best costume, sick decor to scare your shorts off, and DJs to keep you moving to Garage, Breaks, House, Electro, & Mash-ups/Turnablism from 9PM to 6AM.

3 years later and we're still keeping the vibe alive. Our weekend was a blast much thanks to all those who attended our Anniversary Bash on Saturday night & our Warm Up Jam on Thursday night prior! Record Fair wrap-up

The Fair on Saturday Dec 8 was a hit!! There were tons of great people out with awesome cheap, good, & pre-loved vinyl to buy and sell.

Sellers: JGirl, Lola, BreO, Filter Funker, Cannibass, Stickybuds, Ashley (sick selection of 45s), & Jeff Thorne.

Snap Okanagan James stopped in to listen to tunes and snap a few shots.

DJs who performed: BreO playing garagy beats, Filter Funker, and Jeff Thorne playing House (Believe it or not ehehe)

Also, manousos worked on a tech 12 turnable right on site. A bunch of us got an opportunity to see him gut a decks, rewire components, balance everything and put it all back together, power drill, soldering gun, and all!

Record Fair 2 will take place in February 2008. Save your gramma's Christmas money!

Holey dankballs! White Noiz in Vernon was a huge success! Much thanks to all the key playahs with sound, set up, decor, promotions, and a totally sick line up of DJs.
